Doji Tower Interior Commercial and Office

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2021

This distinguished interior environment, realized through Mercurio Design Lab S.r.l.'s design vision for Doji Tower Commercial and Office, represents a sophisticated meditation on the relationship between architectural gesture and retail experience within contemporary commercial design practice. The space demonstrates how curvilinear formal language, drawn perhaps from organic natural forms and the flowing lines of precious metalwork traditions, can transform a functional retail environment into an immersive spatial journey that honors both merchandise and visitor alike. Technical achievement manifests through the seamless integration of multiple material systems, where embossed panels bearing stylized rose motifs engage in dialogue with precision glass fabrication, polished metal trim, and carefully orchestrated lighting layers that together create an atmosphere of warmth and aspiration. The compositional strategy employs the display islands as spatial anchors that define circulation paths while maintaining visual permeability throughout the generous floor plate, a approach that invites exploration while providing clear orientation. Particularly noteworthy is the ceiling treatment, which elevates what might serve merely as functional overhead plane into an active compositional participant, its flowing illuminated channels and stepped volumes creating vertical spatial interest that rewards upward contemplation. The chromatic program demonstrates refined sensitivity to the emotional dimensions of retail experience, selecting warm tones associated with comfort, luxury, and trust while introducing sufficient tonal variation through the geometric floor pattern to maintain visual engagement. Wall treatments featuring illuminated display niches with product imagery and carefully arranged floral elements extend the visual narrative to the spatial perimeter, creating a sense of completeness and considered attention throughout. The viewer might consider how such environments shape our relationship with objects of value, transforming commercial transaction into aesthetic experience.

Doji Tower, a mixed use interior project, features a pre-existing classical imprint. To create an integrated luxury experience that focuses from the outside to the inside, which is visually important, Mercurio Design Lab, a studio which does not focus heavily on a classical design philosophy, developed a new style language that fuses the classical and the contemporary. The blend resulted to an art deco sensibility when applied in the various sections and functionalities of the building. The combination brings forth a timeless innovation, one that outlives evolving colours and trends of time.
