Royal Mansion Exhibition Center

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2022

QIDI DESIGN GROUP's Royal Mansion Exhibition Center exemplifies contemporary landscape architecture's capacity to establish meaningful dialogue between built intervention and natural environment, representing an approach deeply informed by biophilic design principles and ecological sensitivity. The design demonstrates remarkable compositional intelligence in its deployment of sinuous elevated pathways that navigate through established forest growth, creating processional experiences that honor existing ecological conditions while introducing precisely calibrated architectural moments. The elliptical pavilion structure, with its concentric material zones, suggests influences from both traditional garden design's emphasis on contemplative gathering spaces and contemporary parametric design's exploration of organic geometries. The material palette achieves sophisticated restraint, employing weathered warm tones that resonate with natural oxidation processes while contrasting productively with surrounding vegetation. Technical accomplishment is evident in the seamless integration of pathway systems that appear to float above the forest floor, minimizing ecological disruption while maximizing experiential engagement with the landscape. The design appears to explore themes of journey and destination, movement and pause, the pathway functioning as both connective tissue and experiential sequence leading to moments of repose within the circular gathering spaces. One might observe references to traditional garden design's emphasis on revealing and concealing views through careful orchestration of architectural and vegetative elements. The work invites consideration of how contemporary practice might honor natural systems while creating meaningful spaces for human gathering and contemplation within forested environments.

The project is located at the west of Suo River Park in Zhengzhou. The origin of Chinese ancient Poetry, consisting of enrich abundant ecological wet park. The landscape principle is to create beyond fantasy and romance landscape while echoes ancient romance of poetry traditional style. The journey begins with an initiatory of journey of woods exploration, followed by Bamboo plank road, terrazzo scenery wall, mirror installation. The rope platform, which inspires children to perceive more outdoor activities, creates an extraordinary environment for children to experience and explore nature.
