Silver A' Design Award Winner 2022
The packaging design presented in Dmytro Lynnyk's Iguana Energy Drink Packaging exemplifies contemporary commercial visual culture's sophisticated engagement with biomimetic aesthetics and environmental storytelling. Working within the tradition of beverage branding that seeks to establish immediate sensory and emotional connections with consumers, this design transforms the conventional aluminum vessel into a tactile narrative object through the meticulous application of reptilian scale patterning that wraps the entire surface. The technical achievement lies in the seamless integration of photorealistic texture with typographic elements, where the bold letterforms emerge organically from the scaled substrate as though branded into living dermis. The diagonal slash motif introduces kinetic energy and suggests contained power awaiting release, a visual metaphor that resonates with the product category's emphasis on vitality and invigoration. The staging within this promotional imagery demonstrates equally refined sensibilities, positioning the product within an immersive environmental context that transports viewers to humid tropical realms where such magnificent creatures dwell. The interplay between manufactured object and natural companion creates a dialogue about wildness, authenticity, and primal energy that transcends mere product representation. The chromatic decisions reinforce this narrative through the exclusive employment of green spectrum hues, traditionally associated with nature, renewal, growth, and life force across numerous cultural traditions. Viewers might contemplate how contemporary design increasingly seeks to bridge the perceived division between industrial production and natural world, suggesting that vitality itself flows seamlessly between realms.
The composition of Iguana Energy is perfectly balanced. All components perfectly complement each other, creating an energy effect. Were offered several options, more simple and concise. But the first option was conceived in the form of leather, Iguana skin. this idea just kind of popped up. The design (background in the form of scales, scratches) and the brand name are intertwined and reinforce each other. It was for even greater manifestation of identity that in the bank it was the power engineer who was asked to make scratches that give a feeling of strength, energy and cheerfulness.
