Longking Pro Environmental Campus Industrial Public Landscape

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2023

Within the evolving discourse surrounding contemporary landscape architecture's capacity to reconcile industrial functionality with ecological sensitivity and human wellness, Ballistic Architecture Machine's Longking Pro Environmental Campus Industrial Public Landscape emerges as a distinguished exemplar of integrated environmental design thinking. The composition demonstrates sophisticated understanding of traditional Asian garden principles reinterpreted through contemporary spatial practice, where the meandering pathway serves not merely as circulation infrastructure but as a contemplative journey device inviting sequential discovery of programmatic moments. The striking golden pyramidal pavilion, positioned as a visual terminus along the primary axis, appears to reference both vernacular agricultural structures and sacred mountain forms prevalent in regional landscape iconography, its luminous presence creating what might be termed a secular shrine within the industrial context. The cylindrical bamboo gathering structure exemplifies material authenticity and craft tradition, its woven texture suggesting continuity with artisanal heritage while providing intimate human-scale counterpoint to the surrounding architectural volumes. Technical accomplishment manifests in the nuanced topographic modeling creating undulating green masses that soften the industrial campus perimeter while managing stormwater through naturalistic swale systems visible in the stone-lined channels. The chromatic restraint of the architectural elements permits the landscape palette to predominate, establishing clear hierarchical relationship between built form and living systems. The composition invites consideration of how contemporary industrial environments might embrace regenerative landscape principles that nurture both ecological health and human flourishing, perhaps prompting viewers to contemplate their own relationship with designed nature within workplace contexts.

The splendid garden is located on former farmland in a pristine valley in the mountains, north of Longyan City in China. Natural springs and the overflow of the mountain reservoir flow through the center of the mega industrial campus. The customer Longking specializes in industrial environmental protection equipment and research. To create this romantic and colorful landscaping the team used environmental technologies developed in-house. The landscape is a new form of recreation and serves as a showcase for people to better understand the underlying natural processes upon which are depended.
