Argan Life Skincare

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2023

The arrangement before us exemplifies contemporary packaging design at its most refined, positioning Angela Spindler's Argan Life Skincare within the tradition of premium botanical beauty presentation that emerged prominently in early twenty-first century visual culture. The triadic composition demonstrates sophisticated understanding of color theory, employing an analogous harmony that moves gracefully from warm coral through golden amber to cool lavender, each hue carefully calibrated to suggest the natural origins of the formulations within while maintaining visual cohesion across the product family. The architectural staging featuring the distinctive violet arch draws upon established conventions of luxury goods photography wherein environmental elements elevate everyday objects toward the realm of aesthetic contemplation. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless integration of decorative and functional elements: the geometric basketweave patterns adorning each cap reference artisanal craft traditions while the clean typographic treatment speaks to contemporary design sensibilities valuing clarity and elegance. The matte surface finish across all vessels creates unified visual coherence while maximizing legibility of product information rendered in sophisticated black letterforms. Thematically, this presentation invites meditation upon the relationship between beauty ritual and self-care, positioning the daily application of skincare as an act worthy of beautiful vessels and thoughtful design. The ascending diagonal arrangement suggests progression and aspiration, perhaps mirroring the transformative promise inherent to botanical skincare traditions. One might observe how the violet environmental color creates psychological associations with creativity and premium quality while the warm product hues suggest nourishment and vitality. How might the viewer's understanding of product efficacy be shaped by such carefully orchestrated visual presentation?

The designer was commissioned to develop sustainable packaging for a mixed range of hair and skincare products. The project challenge was to use one size of packaging for three different-sized products. This required some clever internal cardboard engineering to support the products inside the single-size tube. The cardboard tubes were printed offset with black plus two spot colors, a spot UV varnish, and all over satin aqueous varnish. The lid labels were printed in two colors on a self-adhesive stock.
