The architects appear to have engaged deeply with the phenomenology of arrival, orchestrating an approach sequence where ground-embedded luminaires transform the processional pathway into a ceremonial route, culminating at the soaring glazed gable that functions simultaneously as entrance marker and interior revelation. The building's massing demonstrates sophisticated understanding of additive volumetric composition, where distinct pavilions—each possessing individual material character and roof expression—coalesce into unified ensemble through careful proportional relationships and shared design vocabulary. The 249 Design Hotel is a retrofit project inspired in the German vernacular architecture. Located in the tourist city of Gramado, the result was a project that creates a dialogue between contemporary and existing architecture in a respectful and harmonious way, using materiality as an agent of integration of everything. Steel, wood and stone are the connectors that unite the whole and bring the external area into the interior of the building. The north of the project was that we made all decisions thinking in the integration between the design and the hotel guests.
