The Dome Ring

Within the distinguished tradition of decorative arts and jewelry design, MEVARIS DESIGN AND ART GALLERY's The Dome Ring emerges as a compelling meditation on the intersection of architectural form and personal adornment, inviting consideration of how structures that shelter humanity might translate into intimate objects that grace the body. The design appears to draw inspiration from classical dome architecture, perhaps evoking the mathematical precision of Renaissance cupolas or the celestial symbolism inherent in hemispherical forms that have long represented the vault of heaven in cultures spanning continents and centuries. The mother-of-pearl hemisphere suggests both the luminous inner surface of shell and the opalescent quality of moonlight, while the rose gold meridian lines trace paths reminiscent of navigational instruments, armillary spheres, or the structural ribbing that allows great domes to distribute weight and achieve seemingly impossible spans. Technical achievement manifests in the precision required to secure the organic curved surface within geometric metal framework while maintaining visual lightness and wearability. The companion ring on the adjacent finger demonstrates related design sensibilities through its cascading pavé formation and warm-toned central stone, creating visual dialogue suggesting a cohesive design philosophy concerned with light capture, organic flow, and precious material orchestration. The design takes its inspirations from the unique blend of Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman architectures. The Dome ring, as unique in its design that it is a modern interpretation of famous Domes of Hagia Sophia. The design is an outcome of the Phd research that Fatma Altinbas had held in Grand Bazaar for 2 years, about the history of jewellery manufacturing in the area. The Dome ring is crafted from 18-carat rose gold and adorned with a total of 0.22 carats of G color, VS1 clarity diamonds, both on the inside and outside.
