Project Nazare Sailing Yacht

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

Within the distinguished tradition of marine vessel design that has long celebrated humanity's harmonious relationship with the sea, Onur Kiren's Project Nazare Sailing Yacht emerges as a compelling meditation on contemporary nautical aesthetics and technical refinement. The work invites contemplation of how modern design philosophy might honor the storied lineage of sailing craft while embracing the formal vocabularies and material possibilities of present-day engineering. One observes in the vessel's sweeping profile a sophisticated dialogue between hydrodynamic necessity and sculptural aspiration, where each curve appears to serve both functional and aesthetic purposes simultaneously. The chromatic program demonstrates considerable restraint and intentionality, employing a palette of luminous neutrals against the natural theater of sea and sky that suggests an understanding of how manufactured form might achieve visual consonance with elemental surroundings. Particularly noteworthy is the treatment of the superstructure's surface articulation, where subtle tonal gradations reveal the complex geometry of compound curves meeting at precisely resolved transitions, a technical achievement that speaks to advanced manufacturing capabilities deployed in service of visual refinement. The mast and rigging assembly presents an elegant vertical counterpoint to the vessel's dominant horizontality, the tensioned lines creating rhythmic visual music against the atmospheric backdrop while simultaneously suggesting the latent energy of wind-powered locomotion. The composition's environmental staging, with its carefully calibrated atmospheric conditions and water surface treatment, contextualizes the design within an idealized maritime setting that enhances appreciation of its formal qualities. This presentation invites the viewer to consider how contemporary luxury yacht design negotiates the enduring human desire for seafaring adventure with evolving expectations of comfort, performance, and visual sophistication, perhaps prompting reflection on what constitutes excellence in objects designed to mediate between human aspiration and natural forces.

Inspired by the waves of Nazare in Portugal, this 24meter sailboat offers a modern design with a metallic gray hull and black and orange details. The seating areas on the open deck integrate with the main design lines and provide comfort and functionality for guests. The panoramic glass roof illuminates the interior, which can accommodate up to 10 guests, with natural light. The tender garage at the stern transforms into a swimming platform. The elegant hull increases speed and stability, while the advanced sail system ensures maximum efficiency from the wind.
