The Lotus Resort of Jiuhua Moutain Hotel, conceived by designer Kevin Hu and recognized with the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, exemplifies a profound synthesis of natural materiality and refined spatial choreography that positions the work within contemporary biophilic design discourse while drawing upon deep wells of traditional aesthetic philosophy. The reception area captured here demonstrates exceptional command of material dialogue, where the commanding presence of a live-edge timber desk, preserving the organic memory of its source through spectacular burl figuring and undulating contours, establishes an immediate connection between the built environment and the natural world beyond. This substantial wooden element, supported upon a cool-toned stone plinth, engages in productive tension between the warm chromatic register of earth tones and the mineral coolness of its base, a duality that extends throughout the spatial composition. The pendant luminaire descending through the double-height void appears to reference lotus forms or perhaps the exposed root systems of aquatic plants, its golden tendrils creating a biomorphic accent that bridges ceiling and desk while introducing a vertical rhythm within the predominantly horizontal composition. The limestone wall surfaces, arranged in carefully proportioned ashlar courses, provide a luminous backdrop that receives and redistributes the carefully calibrated indirect lighting, creating subtle gradients of warmth that transform the architectural surfaces into active participants in the atmospheric construction. The sculptural element upon the desk, featuring what appears to be carved jade or alabaster set within a naturalistic rocky formation, introduces contemplative focal points that reward extended viewing while suggesting cultural continuities with scholar rock traditions. Located in the core of the south side of the Dayuan Cultural Park in Jiuhua Mountain scenic area, Chizhou City, Anhui Province,China. It was built on the background of Jiuhua Mountain history and the Tibetan culture, integrated various functions such as heart-building, self-cultivation. Meanwhile, as the development requires, now it can also be used as a resort hotel for the local, blending natural landscape and cultural atmosphere to sublimate the space experience to the spiritual level. The design team was commissioned by the interior decoration design.
